I am not sure how to describe today. It was somewhere in between, stressful, hilarious, and embarrassing! :o) Our playgroup had a play date at "Pump It Up" this morning. For those of you without toddlers, this is a building filled with the biggest bounce houses I have ever seen. Even for an adult it can become overwhelming!
The Before:
Because I am one of the only people in the universe without a GPS unit, Jaija came to pick us up in the "PINK"-mobile. :) Ryder was already cranky the whole way there. And it didn't help that the GPS took us on the "scenic route" only to find out that we were driving in the wrong direction. It took entirely too long to get to a place that should have taken about 10 minutes tops. We drove circles around Houston! The kids were relieved when we finally pulled up to the house of terror! Ryder couldn't wait to get down and run around!
The During:
::play Phantom of the Opera theme song here:: :o) Seriously, if I could pick a song to be played at that moment, this is what I would have chosen! We opened the door to the room set aside for our playgroup and I really wish I would have had a video camera with me! Ryder took one look inside that room and yelled out "NOO!" and took off running the other direction. I know he was thinking "NO MOM!!!! NOT THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!" (we have had a short visit to the Pump It Up in The Woodlands, and he wasn't a fan then... but it was NOTHING like this trip.) I picked Ryder up, took his shoes off, and started bouncing with him. I have never heard him scream like that before! It was like pulling teeth! He was terrified!! I took him to the top of a giant inflatable slide, while ripping my favorite pair of holy jeans, thinking he would love it! Yea, no. He just cried and cried. Meanwhile, Jaijas Rhyder was doing the same thing back at the front door. He was jumping up and down screaming. Who would have thought that our kids would be so afraid of what most kids LOVE! Jaija looked at me and said "Ready to go??" HA I don't think I really even needed to answer that! So I kid you not, we were not even in this place for 5 minutes. Who knows what the other moms were thinking. I guess that's why I said part of my day was embarrassing! Well, we loaded the kids back up in the car...both still screaming. Meanwhile I am laughing trying not to pee my pants. I am mean, I know. But I had never seen either one of them act that way!

The After:
We took the kids to to Chic fil a to cheer them up. After some nuggets and fries we let them run wild in the indoor playground. I have always been so skeptical of places like that!Especially after over-hearing a mother talking about her daughters school calling this morning letting her know her daughter had a head full of LICE! But I decided to stop being a worried mother and just let him have fun. I warned Jaija that if Ryder climbed up inside the jungle gym and got stuck, that she was going to have to go in after him! haha! I am VERY claustrophobic, and have been in this situation before! It was not fun and I really had to focus in order to not pass out! Luckily Ryder only went about 5 steps up and then came back down, but he had a blast! Don't worry I completely lathered hime with sanitizer when we got back to the car. Maybe one day I will stop worrying about germs... but for today, I will stick to sanitizers! We took the kids to HEB after lunch. THANK GOD HEB has carts with steering wheels on them! I don't know how we would get grocery shopping done without them! Oh yea... and on our way out I got yelled at by an old woman in a wheelchair who swears I was about to run her over with my two kids and a giant car attached to the front of my cart! I usually feel sorry for old people in wheelchairs, but my Lord this lady was mean! Needless to say, I was ready for naptime!

So here I am during Ryder's nap, re-living this day... telling you all about it! I guess we wont be going back to any bounce house places anytime soon! :)
Poor Ryder/Rhyders, a rocky start but a successful ending!
